It’s good that a “Look Inside” is provided for books like this one. It told me that if you are oblivious to any financial planning or debt reduction methods then it is worth less than two dollars if you catch it at discount. Otherwise there is much better guidance available on line and in some areas from local organizations that offer free educational seminars without trying to sell you a product.

After reading it, as a debt free retiree who completed the CFP curriculum for my own use, I conclude that it is a mediocre primer that may be helpful to some who are desperate. The style of writing and the “word problem” type of examples make it tedious to understand the lesson objectives.

Plus there are some irritants. For example, in the first several pages count how many times you see the phrase “let’s get started”. It’s a decent and honest attempt by the author but more work is needed to make it more marketable to the average person trying to plan for a worry free future.

One thing that should always be remembered in your prime earning years is what my 70 year old next door neighbor told me when I was forty years old about his regrets in life. “You don’t want to retire without having a lot of extra money.”
